Xiaomi finally leads the Russian market and overtakes Samsung in online smartphone sales

Counterpoint Research has published a report on the situation in the Russian online smartphone market, which was led by Xiaomi in the fourth quarter of last year.

Total smartphone sales in Russia in the fourth quarter of 2020 decreased by 11%, in particular due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, online sales were up 1% quarter-on-quarter and accounted for 35% of total smartphone sales.

Xiaomi has gained 31% of the online smartphone market in Russia. The second place went to Samsung with 27%, the third went to Apple, which took 15.5% of the market. Summing up, Counterpoint Deputy Director Tarun Pathak noted that smartphone users are more likely to prefer NFC, OLED and eSIM, with the average selling price of smartphones growing 8% year on year to $ 258.
