Xiaomi has benefited the most from Huawei’s exit from the European smartphone market

A recent study by Counterpoint Research showed that Xiaomi has made the most of Huawei’s exit from the European smartphone market.

As of Q1 2020, there were no mid-range 5G smartphones in the European market. The situation was gradually changing and by the third quarter of 2020, the share of 5G middle-class smartphones accounted for about 20%, In the first quarter of 2021, there were already 50% of such smartphones in Europe.

The price range surveyed by Counterpoint Research researchers ranged from $ 250 to $ 500. Huawei enjoyed great prominence in mid-market Europe before its recession last year, and by Q1 2021, the company had largely exited the European smartphone market. Of all the suppliers, Xiaomi has seen the largest year-on-year growth in the mid-range smartphone segment due to its good lineup and aggressive marketing.

The fall in Huawei’s market share has also been reflected in the growth of other Chinese brands such as Oppo and Vivo. These brands have made significant improvements in the European market.

So far, Apple and Samsung remain the clear leaders in the 5G segments in Europe, although this may change in the future. According to the forecast, the global smartphone market may soon be headed by two Chinese companies.
