Xiaomi has introduced a new series of POCO smartphones, the base model of which is the M5. It stands out from competitors (and smartphones from the manufacturer itself) with its processor – the new product uses Helio G99, the best mid-range model from MediaTek. In fact, now on the market such a chipset is used only in two smartphones (among well-known brands): Vivo V25e and Infinix Note 12 Pro.
Helio G99 is a refreshed version of G96. It also has 2 productive Cortex-A76 cores and 6 economical Cortex-A55 cores, and the Mali-G57 acts as a graphics accelerator. However, the novelty is based on a 6-nanometer process technology, while the G96 is built on a 12-nanometer technology – G99 should be much more economical with the same performance.

Otherwise, the POCO M5 received standard characteristics for its segment (with the exception of the back cover with a texture that imitates the skin):
- Display: 6.58 inches, IPS, Full HD +, 90 Hz.
- RAM: 4 or 6 GB.
- User Memory: 64 or 128 GB.
- Main camera: 64 + 8 + 2 MP.
- Front camera: 13 MP.
- Battery: 5000 mAh, 33 W.
- Preinstalled operating system: Android 12, MIUI 13.
The base model is priced at €240 in India, while the 6/128GB version will sell for €250.
