Xiaomi, apparently, decided to follow the path of Apple and have two Pro-versions of its tablet, which differ primarily in size. In addition to the already existing Pad 5 Pro, the company introduced a new tablet with the same name, but with a larger display – 12.4 vs. 11 inches. The technical specifications remained almost unchanged, but the design has changed slightly – the camera unit has a new look in the style of Xiaomi 12 series smartphones.

The “heart” of the tablet is the Snapdragon 870 processor – roughly speaking, a renamed version of the Snapdragon 865+ chipset from 2020. It is complemented by 6, 8 or 12 GB of RAM and storage of 128, 256 or 512 GB. The display has grown in size, but without other changes: it is still an IPS matrix with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

One of the main changes was the front camera, which received a resolution of 20 megapixels (versus 8 megapixels in the regular Pad 5 Pro) – apparently, users began to use the front camera more often in the era of the pandemic (and video conferencing). The company did not miss the opportunity to compare video shooting on the new tablet with the iPad Pro and emphasize that the camera is better here. The rear models have also changed: 50 MP + 2 MP.

Together with the enlarged display, the battery has also increased – instead of 8600 mAh, here is 10,000 mAh. True, this did not affect the charging speed: all the same 67 watts. It is powered by USB-C standard USB 3.2 Gen 1, which supports video output. Thanks to this, the tablet can be used as an additional screen.
Despite the large screen, Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 is quite compact: at 620 grams with a thickness of 6.66 mm. The case is made of metal, it fits four speakers with support for Dolby Atmos technology.
The base model with 6/128 GB is priced at 2,999 yuan ($445), the upgraded version with 8/256 GB will cost 3,299 yuan (490 dollars), and for the top modification with 12/512 GB you will have to pay 4,199 yuan (625 dollars).
