Back on November 2, a teaser of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra Concept, a special version of the regular Xiaomi 12S Ultra, to which you can connect the lenses of full-fledged cameras (M-series from Leica), made a noise on the Web. Now, Xiaomi has revealed more details about the monstrous new product and, most importantly, called its approximate cost (without specific numbers). This is reported by the publication MyDrivers, citing Chinese sources.
A Xiaomi employee stated that the Xiaomi 12S Ultra Concept is a demo device and not a mass gadget for sale. However, if it becomes available for purchase, its cost will be at the level of a sports car.
Unlike the regular Xiaomi 12S Ultra, the Concept version uses two 1-inch sensors at once. For the sake of being able to connect a full-fledged camera lens, the manufacturer had to change the layout of the camera (including abandoning the periscope) and reduce the area of the motherboard. The protective lens also needed to be redesigned so that the camera unit could support the weight of the attached lens. At the same time, he managed to maintain tightness – the device is not afraid of water ingress.
