Smartphones with sub-screen front cameras are no longer news: last year ZTE had such a model, this year the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be the first foldable smartphone with a sub-screen camera, and Xiaomi, according to the latest data, is preparing three such models at all.

Xiaomi has reportedly finalized the third-generation sub-screen camera technology and considers it ideal for mass production. Moreover, the technology will be implemented en masse: the company is already preparing three smartphones with its use. They will be released sequentially once a quarter: the first – in the third quarter of this year (that is, the novelty will be presented in the period from July to September), the second – in the fourth quarter of this year, and the third – in the first quarter of 2022.
The technology is not cheap, so entry-level and mid-range models do not have such cameras (yet). In this case, the first Xiaomi smartphone with a sub-screen camera may be Mi Mix 4 (rumors have been talking about this for a long time, as well as the release of a smartphone in the third quarter), the second – Mi Mix Fold 2 (it is expected just by the end of the year), and the third – Mi 12.
