Chinese tech companies are pulling out of doing business in Russia under pressure from US sanctions and suppliers. This information was published today by The Wall Street Journal.
Chinese authorities are urging Chinese companies to resist US pressure, but major Chinese tech companies are limiting supplies to Russia, and they are doing it quietly, without loud announcements. In particular, Lenovo Group, a manufacturer of personal computers, and one of the largest suppliers of smartphones and other devices, Xiaomi, are mentioned. Earlier, DJI Technology, a giant manufacturer of consumer drones, announced the suspension of its activities in Russia and Ukraine.
Deliveries of Chinese technological products to Russia fell sharply in March compared to February. Notebook shipments fell more than 40%, smartphone shipments fell by about two-thirds, and telecom base station shipments plummeted 98%.

According to The Wall Street Journal, U.S. chipmakers that ship products to Chinese companies are forcing them to comply with sanctions rules and making sure that semiconductor devices are not used in goods shipped to Russia. Some suppliers sent letters to all their customers back in March urging them to comply. Sales staff also monitor compliance, according to one source.
China’s Commerce Ministry last month acknowledged that the sanctions had disrupted China’s trade with Russia and urged companies “not to submit to external coercion or make inappropriate external statements.”
