According to a Chinese source, more and more smartphone manufacturers will switch from the current Samsung E3 AMOLED screens to the new – E5 generations. One such company will be Xiaomi: the first Xiaomi model with an E5 display is expected to be the Mi 12.

Samsung E5 is made using LTPO technology. It is more energy efficient than current E3 panels, while still supporting wide frame rate adjustments (1Hz to 120Hz) and very small 1Hz steps. Interestingly, Xiaomi Mi 12 will not be the world’s first smartphone with an E5 screen – such a panel is already used in the iQOO 8 Pro presented yesterday. And Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra with E5 panel will be released later than Mi 12 – these models will be separated by about a month.
The Mi 12 is also credited with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 SoC and support for 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. And, of course, the new Xiaomi flagship will receive an improved camera.
