In February, the head of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, promised that his company would finally return to the tablet market with its new device. And now Xiaomi is in full swing work on its creation. The next tablet from the Chinese brand will be called Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 and boasts flagship-level performance.
The specifications of Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 have been unveiled by a Chinese insider Panda on his Weibo page. He said that the new tablet will be based on the eight-core processor of the sub-flagship level Qualcomm Snapdragon 870, which is an overclocked version of last year’s Snapdragon 865 chip. Also, according to the source, Xiaomi may release a younger version of the tablet based on Dimensity 1200 from MediaTek.
On the front, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 will have a 10.95-inch LCD display with 2K resolution, 144Hz refresh rate and 480Hz sampling rate. The screens for the novelty will be supplied by two Chinese companies – China Star Optoelectronics and BOE. The rear panel will house a dual main camera with a resolution of 20 and 13 megapixels, and on the side there is a fingerprint scanner for quick and secure unlocking. Everything will be controlled by the proprietary MIUI for Pad firmware based on Android.
The thickness of the case of the new tablet under the brand name Xiaomi will not exceed 8.13 mm, and the weight, taking into account all the filling, will be 510 g. What material the case will be made of and in what colors it will appear on sale is not specified.
As a reminder, the last Xiaomi tablet was released in June 2018. This is Xiaomi Mi Pad 4, equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, an 8-inch display with Full HD resolution and an aspect ratio of 16 to 10, as well as two cameras – a 13-megapixel main and a 5-megapixel front camera.
