Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid today called for a deal with Hamas to end the war in the Gaza Strip and free hostages still held by the Palestinian group. “Ending the war is in Israel’s interest,” Lapid wrote in Hebrew on X. He also repeated his call for a change in Israel’s political leadership. “The war will continue as long as this government exists,” he declared. The government does not want peace, added former prime minister and head of the centrist party Ges Atid. Earlier today, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, of the far-right Jewish Power party, said he was working to end the ongoing indirect talks with Hamas for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Israel should not negotiate with murderers, Ben-Gvir said. Source: RES
