The information publication Kommersant, citing its sources, reported that Yandex with its Yandex.Drive project had lost its leadership in the Moscow car-sharing market – now the rival company Delimobil occupies the first place in terms of the number of trips. It should be noted that “Drive”, which for some time was the leader in this segment, lost 10% of the market only in the last year. If in June 2020 Yandex.Drive occupied 48.7% of the car sharing market in the capital, then in June 2021 this figure is already 39.9%. At the same time, naturally, the shares of competitors have grown significantly.
For example, the company “Delimobil” during the same period was able to grow from 37.1% to 40.5% – the growth seems insignificant, but this is enough to become a leader. BelkaCar’s indicators also increased – at the moment the company occupied 15.9% of the capital’s car rental market, although last year it was only 10.6%. But the share of other car sharing operators in Moscow remained at the same level of 3.7% – no growth or decline was noticed here. Analysts explain the loss of leadership of Yandex.Drive quite simply – Yandex began to actively offer part of its vehicles for long-term lease, while Delimobil has a separate company for this task, so this did not in any way affect its share in the segment car sharing. Moreover, unlike Drive, the current market leader continues to actively expand the car fleet in the capital.
Other companies on the Moscow car-sharing market have certain problems with increasing their car fleet – it is quite difficult to get vehicles on lease for these purposes.
“Now the deficit is global, it is caused by a shortage of electronic components for cars. For dealers, it is more profitable to sell cars to individuals on credit than to leasing companies, ”said Sergei Udalov, executive director of Avtostat.
