Yandex is against the fact that its software is not removable on the mobile devices of Russians. Tigran Khudaverdyan, the managing director of the company, announced this on his page in the social network.
The head of Yandex emphasized that they never ask their partners – whether they are manufacturers of phones, tablets or TVs – to make applications indelible. On the contrary, the company is categorically against such a decision, since it harms users and can negatively affect the reputation. In addition, Yandex added that they did not sign any agreements: Samsung, on its own initiative, decided to pre-install domestic software without the possibility of uninstalling it.
According to Tigran Khudaverdyan, this happened due to the fact that some Google services are not removable. Most likely, the manufacturer used the same algorithm for Yandex applications.
The company looked into the preinstallation law and found no non-removability requirement. Experts have already turned to Samsung and other corporations with a request not to install domestic software without the possibility of removal.
The excitement around the pre-installation of Russian software began due to the law on fines, which comes into force on July 1, 2021. Electronics manufacturers who ignore this requirement will have to pay a fine of 50,000 to 200,000 rubles.
As part of the Resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation, Samsung has released a system update for Android, which added domestic services. As it turned out, it is impossible to uninstall the software using the traditional method. Simple manipulations in the settings only help to remove the icon from the desktop and clear memory. Naturally, Yandex did not like this option: the company believes that the forced installation will negatively affect the attitude of Russians towards domestic software.
