The Yandex team announced very interesting news for Muscovites and guests of the capital. Testing of the unmanned taxi service on live passengers will begin soon in Moscow.

According to the press service, taxi-drones will begin carrying the first passengers in the fall of 2021 in the Yasenevo area in the south of Moscow. At first, a limited number of users will be able to use the service. Those interested can apply for participation in testing on the project website. To participate, it is enough to be 18 years old and above.

Taxi drones will operate in the vicinity of the Yasenevo, Novoyasenevskaya and Bitsevsky Park metro stations. You can call a taxi without a driver through the Yandex Go app. While the service works over relatively short distances, for example, you can get to the metro, a shopping center or a gym.

Testing in Yasenevo will be the first stage of Yandex’s large project to launch unmanned taxis. Over time, it is planned to expand the vehicle fleet, geography of coverage and the number of test participants.
