Yandex.Navigator received a new function – from now on it warns the user about four types of possible dangers on the road, including difficult intersections, dangerous sections for overtaking and places with poor visibility of pedestrians. To identify these dangers, Yandex analyzed more than 140 thousand road accidents: if some of them were recorded in the same area, the algorithms grouped them.
At the moment, Yandex.Navigator knows about more than 1,380 dangerous sections on the roads, divided into four types. They all have their own icon displayed on the map. If desired, the user can turn on voice alerts. In this case, for example, when speeding near a dangerous area for overtaking, the driver will hear: “Ahead is a dangerous section for overtaking.” Yandex.Navigator had similar functionality before – the service has long been able to report on approaching schools and speeding.
In the near future, similar innovations will appear in Yandex.Maps.
