Yandex presented the second generation of its very first Station – a model without a screen, which launched all future smart speakers of the company (Light, Mini, Max). Externally, the novelty is not too different from its predecessor, the main innovations are hidden “inside”.
Yandex.Station of the second generation was equipped with two broadband speakers with a total power of 30 W – thanks to them, as well as a special acoustic grille with an aperiodic structure (noticeably less than usual distorts the sound), the sound of the novelty should become much better. Improved sound is also achieved through room correction technology, which analyzes the location of the speaker in a room and adjusts the speaker to a specific room – the company claims that the new speaker will sound equally good wherever the user places it. By the way, it is compatible with any other Yandex.Station – you can create a stereo pair.
Outwardly, the new Yandex.Station is similar to the very first one in form, but at the same time it looks more aesthetically pleasing. Alice’s indicator ring has been replaced by a full-fledged luminous panel that shimmers in time with the music or depending on the reaction of the voice assistant.
Yandex.Station of the second generation has learned to work with the ZigBee protocol, which is used by many manufacturers of smart home devices. Thanks to this, the new product can be connected to smart sockets, switches and various sensors – any gadgets that support this protocol. In the future, the column will be able to work with the Matter protocol, which is intended to become a unified standard for smart home devices.
The new Yandex.Station will start selling in the first half of 2022, the price has not yet been announced.
