Yara Gambirasio’s mother left many messages and finally tried to call her several times in the days of her disappearance and the following ones. «Honey, it’s your mom, where are you?. These are the words he left on the answering machine of his daughter’s cell phone, who disappeared on the evening of November 26, 2010. Messages like this and the calls from the Gambirasios’ phone, which was tapped in those days, were used in the Netflix docuseries The Yara Case, Beyond Any Reasonable Doubt.
The Gambirasio lawyers, Andrea Pezzotta and Enrico Pelillo, have filed a complaint with the privacy guarantorThe weekly magazine previews it Yellow: «We are outraged. We will file a complaint with the Privacy Guarantor: there was an incursion into the lives of these parents without any real need and without asking for any authorization».
The wiretaps were not part of the investigation and never ended up in the trials. For the family’s lawyers they were never useful for the purposes of the judicial reconstruction of the affair.
The lawyers explain: «The voice messages from wiretaps that were never even used in the trial were published. These are private conversations that have no bearing on the determination of the facts. and whose sole purpose is to arouse the morbid attention of the viewer. We ask the Privacy Guarantor to evaluate whether, as we believe, the confidentiality of the Gambirasio family has been violated”.
Maura Panarese and Fulvio Gambirasio, Yara’s parents, did not take part in the series and have always maintained a very private profile. They followed the trials and testified, made appeals in the days of the disappearance and when the investigations seemed to be at a standstill.
