Year-on-year inflation meets expectations and rises 1.7%

The Germany’s Consumer Price Index is up 1.7% YoY in March, as expected, exceeding 1.3% in February and reaching the highest level of inflation seen since February 2020.

The monthly CPI has increased by 0.5%, meeting expectations, but falling below the 0.7% of the previous month, being the most moderate result seen since December.

The Annual Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices has risen 2%, in accordance with expectations, above the 1.6% in February. This is the highest level of inflation on record since April 2019.

Finally, the harmonized monthly CPI stood at 0.5%, one tenth below the previous 0.6% and its lowest level since November, although it has met market forecasts.
