Yellen meets the South Korean president on Tuesday

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen will meet with South Korean President Yun Suk-geol and top South Korean government officials on Tuesday as she wraps up her first visit as a secretary to the Indo-Pacific region, the US Department of Defense said. Finance.

During her contacts in Seoul, Yellen will continue to push for a proposed ceiling on the price of Russian oil and discuss efforts to address supply chain disruptions by strengthening trade ties with reliable economic partners such as South Korea.

He will hold talks with leading South Korean economists and entrepreneurs about how increased participation of women in the workforce can boost economic growth, according to the US Treasury Department.

He will also visit the facilities of one of South Korea’s largest companies, LG Corp, which recently announced investments in the manufacture of batteries for electric vehicles in the United States. In her speech there, she is expected to focus on the importance of working with allies like South Korea to build more resilient supply chains, ease inflationary pressures and lower costs for American consumers.

Janet Yellen visited Japan last week before traveling to Bali, Indonesia to attend the G20 finance ministers’ meeting.
