The Houthi guerrillas of Yemen announced today that they will stop their attacks on their country and Saudi Arabia for “three days”, after a series of attacks against the neighboring kingdom.
“The missile and drone strikes, as well as all military action against Saudi Arabia, will be suspended for three days,” a Houthi spokesman, Mohamed Abdessalam, said on Twitter, citing Mahdi al-Mashato’s senior Mahdi al-Mashatom.
The truce could become a “final and permanent commitment” if Saudi Arabia lifts its “blockade” of Yemen, suspends airstrikes and withdraws its “foreign forces” from Yemeni territory, Mohamed Abdessalam added.
This commitment also offers an end to the Houthi attacks on Yemeni territory, especially around the city of Marib, where fighting has been raging in recent months. It also includes the exchange of prisoners.
The announcement comes the day after a series of guerrilla attacks against Saudi Arabia, with the one of them causes, without casualties, a giant fire in an oil plant in Jeddah.
