Yemen: Saudi-led military alliance bombs Shiite Houthi rebel camp

Aircraft of the Saudi-led military alliance that has been involved in the war in Yemen since 2015 bombed a Shiite rebel camp Houthi, believed to be close to Iran, in the Yemeni capital Sanaa, state television reported on Saturday.

“The operation in Sanaa is an immediate reaction after the crash of a drone that had taken off for Jizan,” according to the same source. Jizan, a city in western Saudi Arabia bordered by the Red Sea, has been repeatedly targeted by Houthis.

According to state television of the Sunni kingdom, seven drones and weapons depots were destroyed in the Shiite rebel camp. It was not immediately clear whether or not there were any casualties.

Since late November, the Saudi-led military alliance has stepped up its airstrikes in the Yemeni capital, where it says it is hitting “legitimate” military targets.
