Yemen: The Houthis claim to have launched attacks against US warships

Yemen’s Houthi rebels have announced that they have carried out two military operations against US warships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea within eight hours. In particular, their spokesman Yahya Sharia said that the first attack was aimed at the American aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72), against which cruise missiles and drones were launched. According to the Houthi spokesman, the operation prevented imminent strikes in Yemen. The Iranian-backed rebels then launched an attack with ballistic missiles and drones against two US Navy cruisers in the Red Sea. For its part, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that explosions were reported earlier today near a ship located 70 nautical miles southwest of the Yemeni port of Hodeidah, stressing that it was not damaged and that the crew members are safe.
