Gunmen in Yemen have abducted two foreign workers of the non-governmental organization Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in the eastern province of Hadramaut, according to various sources.
The NGO said it no longer had any contact with some of its employees in Yemen, but added that it did not want to provide more information for fear of their safety.
A security source said the two workers were a German and a Mexican and that the gunmen who abducted them were linked to al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
Many Islamist organizations are destroying the war-torn country facing a serious humanitarian crisis.
In February, five UN staff members, four of them Yemenis, were abducted in Abyan province by gunmen also believed to be linked to al-Qaeda.
The terrorist organization has a strong presence in the southern and eastern provinces of Yemen, at a time when the country has been raging for seven years between the government army, backed by a military alliance under Saudi Arabia, and the Shiite Houthi rebels.
