Yesterday in South Korea ended with a negative record of coronavirus cases within 24 hours

The Korean Office of Disease Control and Prevention (KDCA) announced today that 2,434 cases of SARS-CoV-2 had been reported in the past 24 hours, an unprecedented number, about a month and a half after the previous record was recorded on August 11 (24567159). South Korea continues to face the so-called fourth wave, which erupted in early July.

During the same period, 7 deaths of COVID-19 patients were reported.

The new coronavirus pandemic in the country has reached this stage with 2,434 deaths out of a total of 295,132 cases.

Both the mortality rate and the number of patients treated in a serious to critical condition remain relatively low, at 0.82% and 309 respectively, mainly thanks to the vaccination campaign, which focused on older citizens who present a high risk of developing a severe form of the disease.

South Korean Prime Minister Kim Jong-un stressed during a meeting with the pandemic committee the need to implement stricter measures ahead of a three-day holiday in the country. “If we do not handle preventive measures consistently, a gradual return to normal life will inevitably be delayed,” he said.

Authorities urged those traveling for the three-day holiday to undergo a test even if they have very mild symptoms, especially before going to work.

So far in the country of 52 million people 72.3% of the population (37.13 million citizens) have received a dose of COVID-19 vaccine, while 44% (22.58 million) have been fully immunized.
