Co-founder of the Binance exchange Yi He dispelled doubts regarding the legal status of the former head of the company Changpeng Zhao (CZ). She said he was positive ahead of the trial.
Yi He made her statement as part of the Binance meetup at the TOKEN2049 conference in Dubai. The company's co-founder commented on concerns that Changpeng Zhao would be convicted.
According to her, government pressure on CZ in the past was expected. Yi He called his resignation from the post of general director of the exchange, a fine and charges of aiding and abetting money laundering “the most optimal way out” of the current situation.
Its status in the United States is now “predominantly peaceful.” She also stated that the situation is generally positive.
The trial in the CZ case will tentatively take place on April 30. Before that, he was released on bail of $175 million.
Zhao faces up to 18 months in prison, but prosecutors are pushing for a longer sentence.
