The Yandex team announced good news for those who like to watch videos of foreign authors who are not polyglots.

Yandex.Browser for computers now has interactive subtitles for videos in four foreign languages — English, French, German, and Spanish. Subtitles can be included both in the original language and in Russian.
According to the developers, interactive word-by-word subtitles complement the off-screen video translation function and will be especially useful when it is inconvenient to watch video content with sound.
Highlighting by words will help not to lose the meaning of what was said, which is especially important for those who are learning a language and do not yet speak it confidently enough. When clicking on an unknown word, the user will immediately receive an instant translation.
To enable subtitles in Russian or a foreign language, you need to hover over the playback window and in the pop-up block “Translate video” select the activation of subtitles in the settings. Now the function is available in the desktop version of Yandex.Browser and only for videos from the YouTube platform.
