Young man tries to save colleague buried by soybeans and both die in SC

Young Lucas Antônio Djubanski and Gabriel Pereira dos Santos, aged 21 and 23, respectively, died buried in a soybean silo 8 meters deep on the premises of the company Big Safra, in Monte Castelo (SC) , last Monday (8). Both were employees of the establishment.

According to the Santa Catarina Fire Department, which responded to the incident, reported this Tuesday (9), Lucas climbed to the top of the silo to try to unblock the stored grains and fell inside the compartment. Afterwards, Gabriel went up to try to save his colleague, but he also fell into the grain, and both ended up buried.

Silos are large tubular installations commonly made of metal, in which industrial quantities of grain are deposited and stored.

Upon arriving at the scene of the incident, firefighters discovered the victims buried in the upper part of the silo. One of them had her body completely submerged in the grains, while the second only left one of her upper limbs sticking out of the soybeans.

Given the obstruction of the silo's main drainage outlet, firefighters had to remove the victims' bodies through the lower part of the metal structure. To do this, a cut was made in this region of the compartment, where a trailer was positioned so that the lifeless bodies could be deposited, then lowered to the ground using an “envelope” stretcher.

Afterwards, the Civil Police were called and the bodies were taken into the care of the Military Police, who were at the scene. The identity of the victims was confirmed by the Scientific Police of Santa Catarina.

A CNN He tried to contact the state's Public Ministry of Labor (MPT) and the company Big Safra to obtain their position on what happened. However, until the report was finalized, there was no response.
