Trancista Thais Medeiros de Oliveira, 25 years old, who fell ill after smelling pepper in February this year, was discharged on Wednesday (6) from the State Center for Rehabilitation and Readaptation Dr. Henrique Santillo (Crer), where she was hospitalized, in Goiania.
Doctors were discharged in time for Thais to celebrate her 26th birthday the following day, September 7th. “Thank God she’s already home,” said Adriana Medeiros, Thais’ mother.
This was the second time the young woman had been hospitalized since the incident.
At the beginning of August, she was discharged after months of hospitalization, to continue with home care but returned to the hospital just four days after leaving, amid episodes of fever.
Thais and her boyfriend were at home at the beginning of the year, having lunch with the family, when her partner allegedly smelled a goat pepper and started to feel sick.
Asthmatic, she had shortness of breath and had to be rushed to the hospital. Arriving at the scene, Thais needed to be revived by doctors.
At the time, she no longer had neurological responses and was placed on mechanical ventilation.
