Young people are accused of racism in TikTok video

The Civil Police of Espírito Santos indicted a 19-year-old woman for the crime of racism and two 17-year-old teenagers for an infraction analogous to racism this Monday (15). The investigation was opened at the Specialized Police Station for Criminal and Other Offenses (DIPO) in Linhares, after a video with the three young women went viral on a social network.

In the publication, the young women carry out a trend – a kind of challenge – in which they report each other's love situations. One of the young women says: “At least I wasn’t made into a clown by a black guy, right?” At another point, one of them states: “At least I'm not the 'best' of a stranger who is still black and, at the first opportunity, didn't give me a ride to give to an ugly girl.”

The video spread across the networks and reached the Civil Police who, after identification, summoned those involved to give a statement. According to the Civil Police, during the interrogation, under the guidance of the lawyers, the three young women remained silent.

In addition to those involved, the investigation included testimonies from members of the Linhares black movement and people from the community. With the conclusion of the investigation, the 19-year-old girl was charged with racism, with a penalty of 2 to 5 years in prison.

The two 17-year-old teenagers were charged with an infraction similar to the crime of racism. The investigation was sent to the Court.
