Two young people, identified as Julia Santos de Oliveira, 17, and João Pedro Ramos das Neves, 20, were found dead inside a car in a neighborhood of Itaguaí, in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro, on the night of last Monday (1st).
According to the Civil Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro (PCERJ), after an autopsy, it was indicated that the young people died of hypoxemia, which is gas asphyxiation. Investigations also suggest that the death was accidental.
Furthermore, PCERJ reported in a note sent to CNN that the vehicle in which they were found underwent expert examination, and that “additional tests will be carried out to identify the substance that caused the asphyxiation.”
The young men’s family will be interviewed by the police, and agents are carrying out other investigations to clarify the facts. The case is being investigated at the 50th Police Precinct (Itaguaí).

The Press Office of the State Secretariat of Military Police reports that on Monday night (01/07), military police officers from the 24th BPM (Queimados) were called to a report of a body found in the Mazomba neighborhood, in Itaguaí, Metropolitan Region of Rio. According to the unit’s command, at the scene the agents found the bodies of a man and a woman inside a car that was parked on Rua Pai Fabrício. It should be noted that the victims did not show signs of violence. The case was forwarded to the 50th DP (Seropédica).
