Of George Lampiris
Another investment movement is recorded recently in the market of natural mineral water in the Greek market. The reason for the company Pigi Olympou, which was acquired by the businessman and head of the company that is active in the security, fire safety and cleaning of buildings, GrGenesis, Nassos Avramakos.
The company that maintains a factory in Pieria, was gradually acquired by the businessman, who in the first phase acquired 40% of the shares and in the second phase acquired the remaining 60%.
Pigi Olympou belonged in the past to two technical companies based in Trikala, PROTEKAT ATE and TRIKAT AVETE, interests of the Gantzoula family, which faced significant financial problems during the crisis. In fact, TRIKAT was declared bankrupt last summer, under the weight of the important obligations it had to face.
GrGenesis was responsible for providing security services at several of the construction companies’ sites. Given the unfavorable financial situation, in which the specific construction companies found themselves, a significant debt was created to the company of N. Avramakos and in essence the initial 40% that he acquired, was granted by the former owners to the current owner. Then N. Avramakos, proceeded to the acquisition of all the shares of Pigi Olympus.
Investments in production lines that will significantly enhance capacity
As the company’s factory had a rather limited production displacement, he then invested in the purchase and installation of a bottled water production line with verticalization from the preform process to palletizing.
In this way, from the 2,000 bottles that were the production of the pre-existing line per hour, the new line that will be installed will have a production capacity of 16,000 bottles per hour.
At the same time, the final approval of an investment plan by the development law is expected, for the addition of another line with a production capacity of an additional 18,000 bottles per hour.
The bottling company currently maintains three licensed wells for the production of natural mineral water. It should be noted that PepsiCo had taken over the responsibility of distributing Pigi Olympus water in Greece.
The company bets on the word “Olympus”, which is the second component of the company’s name and can work significantly in terms of recognition to the public of foreign tourists coming to Greece as well as in the export sector.
At the moment, the water of Pigi Olympou has a presence in the supermarkets Bazaar, Galaxias and ANEDIK Kritikos, while after the completion of the specific investments, it is expected to expand its displacement in the market.
Intense mobility in the industry
In the industry, the mobility and investments are numerous and remarkable in the recent period where, apart from Pigi Olympou, companies such as NU Aqua recently took the step of acquiring the former water production plant of Pepsi Loutraki in the area of Loutraki.
We also remind you of the acquisition of the company Ziria by Hitos SA in Kyllini, Stymfalia, while Lux Marlafekas, who until recently maintained activity exclusively in soft drinks, recently acquired a stake in the company “Dirfis” in Evia.
At the same time, the shipowner Panagiotis Tsakos with the company Nera Pigon Grammou is planning his next moves, having included the development of a production facility in the development law.
In addition, Mantis Emporiki, which distributes alcohol in the Greek market, is currently preparing its own move by investing in bottled, having acquired a pre-existing facility in Fokida.
