YouTube blocks Russian state channel

YouTube has blocked Russian state channel and Russian-funded media channels around the world. Per guidelines, the technology company said it prohibits content that denies, minimizes or trivializes well-documented violent events.

US downgrades Russia’s business status

US President Joe Biden downgraded Russia’s status for doing business with the country. Biden also announced a ban on imports of vodka, diamonds and seafood from Russia.

Gabriel Boric takes over the presidency of Chile

Former student leader Gabriel Boric took office in Chile. At age 36, he became the youngest president in the country’s history. The vice president of Brazil, Hamilton Mourão, attended the event.

Dominant Omicron in Brazil

The Ômicron variant represents almost 100% of the genomes that were sequenced by Fiocruz in the months of January and February. Data from Fundação Oswaldo Cruz indicate that the circulation of the subvariant BA.2, detected in Brazil in February, is considered low.

IPCA rise in February

The Broad Consumer Price Index (IPCA), which measures the country’s official inflation, accelerated 1.01% in February. The data were released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). It’s the biggest increase for the month since 2015.
