The repayment period of the debts of the Special Insurance Contribution to ELGA is extended, from two years to four, following a decision of the Minister of Rural Development and Food Mr. George Georgantas, which was taken after a suggestion of the President of ELGA Mr. Andrezos Lykos Organization.
This regulation (recast of ΥΑ 136/14062 ΦΕΚ Β΄290 / 2013, on the Financial Support Regulation of ELGA, article 5, par. 9), allows the repayment of debts through the Banks, while the debts are not sent to the Tax Offices that will resulted in farmers losing their tax awareness until they met their obligations.
The decision concerns 64,000 VAT and the total amounts due amount to 12 million euros. This is a measure to support rural households in a time of economic hardship.
