In the new Netflix series “Halston” by Ryan Murphy, the Yuan McGregor impersonating plays the late American fashion designer Roy Hallston who became the face of an international brand, but lost almost everything with an uncontrollable addiction to drugs and alcohol, reports APE.
After abstaining from alcohol for years, McGregor stressed that he is more than familiar with Halston’s struggles.
“I understand this, addiction. And I do not judge. Because I have walked this path for so many years, and it is very cunning and you live absolutely in denial. “People can’t see it,” the 50-year-old actor explained in an interview with «CBS Sunday Morning».
McGregor who has outgrown addiction for two decades and has spoken openly about his struggle with alcohol in the past, he has admitted: “Initially I was a happy drunk. But later I was miserable because it is depressing. “I was just ashamed of myself.”
Due to the addiction of the past, the actor said, he managed to impersonate the fashion designer in «Halston».
“Well, o Halston goes to Studio 54 every night and uses cocaine and his business is in terrible trouble, “the actor explained. “And yet he goes on to say: ‘I have no problem. “I could stop whenever I like, you know?”
Now, after so many years of alcoholism, McGregor is on the verge of admitting that he feels “good enough” about being famous.
“I like. So, on this side of things, you learn that this is what really makes you happy, you try to do the best at work and not feel that you are educating it or doing it with half a heart, “he said. “And then, that’s very good.”
McGregor also referred to his return to the universe “Star Wars” with “Obi-Wan Kenobi” for Disney +, saying it ‘s a “relief” to finally talk about the project after years of fake discussions about it.
