While the governments of Britain and Iran have stated that there is no connection between the debt and the case of Zagari-Ratcliffe, unnamed Iranian officials said according to Iranian state media in 2021 that the British-Iranian Nazanin Zaghari-Rathali will be released. as soon as the debt is repaid.
