The UK business minister, Nadhim Zahawi, has diluted hopes for further talks until the European Union considers additional concessions, in an interview with Sky News on Tuesday.
Zahawi has said that “until (the EU) makes it very clear that it is willing to negotiate with us as an equal, as sovereignSo there is no point in simply talking lip-service saying that we will ‘intensify’ the negotiations. ”
His comments come after the Kingdom’s chief Brexit negotiator, David Frost, rejected an offer of new negotiations with Brussels on Monday.
Frost said it “doesn’t make sense” to intensify the talks on Brexit unless the EU agrees to commit to its position.
