Zayn pays tribute to Liam Payne in new show: “I hope you’re watching”

The singer Zayn Malik once again paid tribute to his former One Direction colleague, Liam Payne on Friday night (29). At 31 years old, the musician died in October after falling from the balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The presentation took place in Wolverhampton, Payne’s hometown, who even held a tribute to the artist after his death. Before singing “It’s You”, the title of his debut album, Zayn mentioned:

“I have been doing something at the end of the shows, which has been paying tribute to my brother Liam Payne. Rest in peace. I hope you’re seeing us from your hometown. It’s for you, Liam.”

When singing the final song of the tour’s debut show “Stairway To The Sky” Zayn had already displayed a message on the screen with Liam Payne’s name: “I love you, brother”.

Zayn left One Direction in 2015. In 2016, he released his first solo album. Since then, he has released three other albums. The most recent, “Room Under The Stairs”, was released in May this year.

The “Stairway To The Sky Tour” is his first solo tour. He even postponed the start of the presentations, which would have been in the United States in October, after the death of his colleague. The initial dates have been moved to January 2025.

Liam Payne died after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. According to the preliminary autopsy report carried out by the Argentine forensic agency, the artist died of “polytrauma” with “internal and external hemorrhage”.

Along with Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan, who complete the boyband, Zayn attended his friend’s wake, which took place on November 20th.
