Zelensky: Adopt 100% all sanctions against Russia, without exceptions

“All sanctions against Russia must be adopted 100%, without exceptions, and continue, because if we do not stop it here, Russia will not stop in Ukraine and will continue with this policy,” the President of Ukraine said , Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking via video conference at the Economist conference.

“Yes, it will be tough for the whole world, but it will be tougher for Russia, which will be forced to stop this war,” Mr. Zelensky noted, adding: “Sanctions are not only about the war against Ukraine, but the violation of International Law, the violation of democracy, human rights, freedom of speech”.

As he pointed out, “diplomatic or any other pressure, 24 hours a day, can force Russia to really seek peace, and we should all really wish for peace to prevail.”

On the current situation in Ukraine, Mr. Zelensky pointed out: “We are trying to strengthen our army so that we can defend our country. We look forward to increasing aid to my country in other areas as well.”

To a question about the attitude of Belarus, he answered that missiles were launched from the territory of Belarus against Ukraine. He knows that such a thing was not the decision of the people of Belarus and called on them not to be misled and lead the country into involvement in Russia’s war against Ukraine. He noted, however, that Ukraine is also prepared for such an eventuality.

The president of Ukraine also referred to Russia’s provocations in the Transnistria region.

“Russia’s war against Ukraine affects everyone because we are now all vulnerable to a nuclear disaster,” he underlined and added: “Russia is using its power opportunistically to attack democracy. We need more unity, more security in Europe. Europe is at war in the energy sector. Ukraine is now a candidate country for the European Union. We need to create this security space so that there is more alignment of all of us. We are not in NATO, but we are on the way and things need to be clear. What do we need to do to stop Russia? What do we need to do to stop the aggression it has unleashed? There needs to be a security system. Will Ukraine have the weapons to resist whoever attacked? We are trying desperately so that there is no total destruction of our country, Ukraine becomes a full member of the European Union connection. We need a system of guarantees that will protect Ukraine until we become a full member of NATO. Russia uses our territories as a platform for its aggressive policy in other countries. Our resistance is for all of Europe. Now, Europe is more united than it was many years ago. Ukraine provided the trigger for us all to come together more. Ukraine, like Europe, must be completely independent of Russia. All this is possible. If this crisis doesn’t destroy us, it will make us much stronger and safer and more connected.”

Finally, Mr. Zelensky accused Russia of investing huge sums of money to misinform the public against Ukraine.
