Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Thursday that he had discussed with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson ways to de-escalate the situation around the Ukrainian issue.
“The security situation around Ukraine was discussed. We exchanged views on possible steps for de-escalation. We are working together to achieve peace,” Zelensky said in a tweet, according to Reuters.
Russia has been in talks with the United States and NATO this week as Moscow raises troops near the Ukrainian border, with Kiev and its allies worried that a military strike could be planned. Russia said on Thursday that talks with the West have so far failed to bridge fundamental differences.
