Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced, on Saturday (19), in local time, assistance to Ukrainians displaced by the Russian invasion.
Speaking in a video message, Zelensky said the country’s ministers are developing a program to support people who have been forced to flee or have lost their homes due to the war.
The plan will:
1. Helping displaced people find jobs in the places where they are currently located, “so that each of our people, each of our families, has a foundation for life”.
2. Provide housing for the displaced and organize efforts to rebuild destroyed homes once the war is over.
3. Support families housing people who have fled occupied territories or areas where fighting is ongoing. “At the very least, they will receive reimbursement for their utility expenses related to housing the resettled people,” Zelensky said.
Zelensky added that a coordination center had been established to handle humanitarian aid deliveries to Ukraine and that the president’s chief of staff had consulted with ambassadors to expedite the move.
