Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on energy-producing countries at the Doha Forum in Qatar on Saturday (26) to increase oil and natural gas production to avoid global “blackmail” from Russia.
“Europe’s future depends on your efforts, I urge you to increase energy production to ensure that everyone in Russia understands that energy cannot be used as a weapon,” Zelensky told the political forum virtually.
“[O Catar] can make its contribution to the stabilization of Europe”, he added.
Zelensky also referred to other conflict-affected countries, noting that the international order needs to be protected not just for Ukraine, but for Afghanistan, Iraq and Yemen.
The Ukrainian president also warned of the potential effect the invasion is having on food exports to countries around the world, adding that no country is safe from disrupting food supplies.
