Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday (9) that children who died in Russian attacks on his country made him want to kill Putin.
Speaking ahead of a NATO summit in Washington, Zelensky spoke of his own pain when children died in Russia’s war against Ukraine, saying it made him “want to kill Putin right now”.
A UN human rights mission said on Tuesday there was a “high probability” that Kiev’s main children’s hospital had been directly hit by a Russian missile during a series of air strikes on Ukrainian cities, killing at least 44 people, as the Kremlin continued to deny involvement.
Hoping to change the course of the grinding conflict that began in February 2022, Zelensky wants NATO to send more weapons and money and offer security guarantees. He will meet with Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Trump ally, at the Capitol on Wednesday (10).
Zelenskiy is attending the NATO summit as a guest, but Ukraine wants to join the group to prevent future attacks from Russia.
