Zelensky condemns US reaction about Russian attack

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday (5) was disappointed with the US embassy response to the attack of a Russian missile that killed 19 people, including nine children, in the hometown of Ukrainian leader Kryvyi Rih.

Zelensky, who has been cautiously in criticizing Washington since the meeting with President Donald Trump in February, wrote in X that several embassies in Kiev condemned Friday’s attack and pointed to Russia as the perpetrator of the assault.

He noted that the US embassy message did not condemn Russia for the attacks.

“Unfortunately, the US embassy response is surprisingly disappointing – such a strong country, such a strong people, and yet such a weak reaction,” wrote Zelensky in English.

“They are afraid to say the word ‘Russian’ when they talk about the missile that killed children,” he adds.

Later, in his night speech, Zelensky praised those who “speak the truth clear and directly” about the attack.

“Being silent about the fact that it is Russia killing children with ballistic missiles is wrong and dangerous,” he said. “He only encourages criminals in Moscow to continue war and ignore diplomacy. Weakness has never ended a war.”

US Ambassador Bridget Brink said: “Horrified that tonight a ballistic missile hit a place near a playground and restaurant in Kryvyi Rih. More than 50 people injured and 16 people, including 6 children. That’s why war is expected to end.”

Under President Trump, the United States has advanced to improve relations with Russia, a change in its predecessor approach Joe Biden.

Zelensky has made efforts to soften Trump’s relations since his discussion in the Oval Hall and praised US efforts to work toward an agreement for the end of the three -year war with Russia.
