Adviser to the Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian President Volodymyr ZelenskySergei Lysenko, denied in an interview with CNN that Zelensky rejected a proposal by the German president Frank-Walter Steinmeier to visit Ukraine, as reported by an article in the German newspaper Bild.
Steinmeier said yesterday that he planned to visit Kyiv together with his Polish counterpart and the presidents of Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia “to send a strong message of European solidarity to Ukraine; (but) this was not desirable in Kyiv.”
THE Zelensky, according to Bild revelation, rejected Steinmeier’s plans to visit Ukraine due to its close relations with Russia in recent years and its long-standing support for the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, a project designed to double the flow of Russian gas directly to Germany, but which has since been canceled.
