Zelensky: Doubts about Ukraine joining the Alliance endanger Europe

“Every doubt we formulate is a ditch that the Russia will try to understand”: the president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky sent a strong message in favor of joining the Atlantic Alliance of his and her country of Moldovawhich hosts a summit meeting of European leaders.

“All European countries that have a border with Russia and do not want Russia to tear away a part of their territory should be full parts of NATO and the EU,” Volodymyr Zelensky said during the European Political Community meeting in Bulboaca, Moldova.

“There are only two alternatives to this: either an open war or an uncontrolled Russian occupation,” continued Zelenskyas both Ukraineas well as Moldova have parts of their territory under Russian influence.

Every time we prepare and take decisions for the good of our Europe, for the good of our values, we should remember that every doubt we express is a ditch that the Russia will try to understand (…), every doubt brings more insecurity”, said its president Ukrainian.

During his upcoming summit NATO in mid-July in Vilnius “clear invitations to join the NATO and security guarantees during the accession process”, he insisted.

“Regarding our accession to the European Union, a clear and positive decision is necessary,” he added, according to the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency.

At the same time as the summit of the European Political Community, the foreign ministers of the NATO countries are meeting in Oslo to discuss Ukraine’s integration prospects.

“…we should set the framework to offer to Ukraine security guarantees after the end of the war,” said the NATO secretary general Jens Stoltenberg in Oslo.

For that matter, the president of France Emmanuel Macron yesterday called for “clear and credible security guarantees”.

“The position of the United States will be of paramount importance. THE Washington is currently refusing the offer of such guarantees by NATO,” an unnamed foreign minister told AFP.

Such guarantees, consisting of a formal declaration of support in the event of an attack, have recently been offered by several NATO countries to Swedenwhose entry into the Alliance is blocked by the Turkey and Hungary.
