Zelensky: Four million people are affected by power cuts

Nearly four million people are affected by power outages following recent Russian raids on energy infrastructure in Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky said today.

“In many cities and districts of our country there are power outages to stabilize the situation,” the Ukrainian president said. “Almost four million Ukrainians are currently experiencing this holiday,” he added.

According to Zelensky, the regions facing these problems are the city of “Kyiv and its province”, the provinces of Zhytomyr (central west), Poltava, Cherkasy and Kirovograd in the center, Rivne (west), Kharkiv (east), Chernihiv and Sumy North.

A little earlier, the private Ukrainian company DTEK announced that “unprecedented” power outages are planned for the next few days in Kyiv and its province due to the significant damage caused to the energy system in Ukraine by the recent Russian strikes.
