The president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky greeted on Monday “the news we have been waiting for”, as he said, from them soldiers fighting in and around the destroyed city of Bahmut, but gave no further details.
“I am grateful to every soldier, to all our defenders, men and women, who gave us today the news we have been waiting for. Great job, soldiers of Bahamut’s sector!” Zelensky said in his evening video message.
At the same time, the Ukrainian president mocked her “hysterical reaction”. of Russia in every action of the Ukrainian forces. “We see to what extent Russia reacts hysterically to every advance we make in this area, to every position we occupy. The enemy knows that Ukraine will win,” he added.
Zelensky singled out “two units” which “resolutely and effectively defended our positions, destroyed the invaders and, most importantly, moved forward.”
Russia claims it has repelled a major attack on its forces in eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian officials, on the other hand, denied that Kiev’s major, months-expected counteroffensive had begun, although they said they had made some gains along the front line.
