Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday that Russia would almost certainly launch new missile attacks on his country and warned that defense forces and civilians should be ready to work together to withstand the consequences, Reuters reports.
“We understand that the terrorists are planning new strikes. We really know that,” Zelensky said in his nightly speech. “And as long as they have missiles, unfortunately, they will not rest.”
Zelensky said the week ahead may well be as difficult as last week, when attacks on power infrastructure subjected Ukrainians to the worst blackouts since Russian troops invaded in February.
“Our defense forces are getting ready. The whole country is getting ready,” he said. “We have worked out all the scenarios, even with our partners.”
