Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky was named Person of the Year by Time magazine on Wednesday. The “personality of the year” designation has been held annually since 1927. The Ukrainian leader has been fighting the war with Russia for almost 10 months.
According to Time, “Zelensky’s success as a wartime leader relied on the fact that courage is contagious.” His stay in the country for all the months of the conflict was also pointed out as something unprecedented and grandiose.
“In the weeks after Russian bombs began to fall on February 24, his decision not to flee Kiev but to stay and rally support was fateful.”

In addition to being president, Zelensky is also an actor, comedian, producer, and writer. Before being elected the new Ukrainian leader, Volodymyr Zelensky starred in a satirical series where he played an unlucky professor who became the country’s leader by accident.
ukraine war
Before the start of the war in Ukraine, experts around the world believed that the conflict could be decided in days (or even hours). However, almost ten months after the start of the Russian invasion, there is no prospect of an end – let alone a peace agreement.
On February 24, 2022, Russia began attacks on Ukrainian territory, including bombing the capital Kiev.
Since then, numerous developments have taken place, such as meetings and motions at the United Nations (UN), sanctions, threats to use tactical nuclear bombs and the annexation of more regions of Ukraine by the Russian government.
