Russia must stop “nuclear blackmail” and withdraw from the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today, speaking via video link to the UN Security Council.
“Russia should, without conditions, stop nuclear blackmail and simply withdraw from the station,” the Ukrainian president said at the meeting convened to mark six months since the Russian invasion.
Zelensky also accused Russia of firing missiles at a railway station in the Dnipropetrovsk region of central Ukraine.
“This is our everyday life. This is how Russia prepared for this UN meeting,” the Ukrainian president said. He added that there are dead and wounded from the missile strikes and that the death toll may rise.
