Zelensky: Russians are pounding positions of Ukrainian forces on the front line

Russia’s military has launched a fresh offensive against Ukrainian forces, with its artillery relentlessly pounding Ukrainian positions, according to a video message from President Volodymyr Zelensky. In fact, Zelensky reported that almost 400 strikes were launched in eastern Ukraine alone on Sunday.

Russia withdrew its forces from Kherson, in southern Ukraine, earlier this month and moved some of its troops east to strengthen its positions in the regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, an area commonly known as Donbas.

“The fiercest battles, as before, are taking place in the Donetsk region. Although there were fewer attacks today due to worsening weather, the number of Russian bombings unfortunately remains extremely high,” Zelensky said.

“In the Luhansk region, we are advancing slowly while fighting. So far, there have been almost 400 artillery attacks in the east since the beginning of the day,” the Ukrainian president continued.

Zelensky also added that troops in the south are “consistently and very calculatedly destroying the capabilities of the occupiers,” but did not elaborate.
